100% boredom as usual: Last month I had the privilege to exclaim “Summer vacation is over and it was freaking awesome!”. This month I can reveal that the autumn is here and that it has been extremely average. Absolutely nothing exciting has happened in the month that has passed. You can’t win every time.
Here’s this month’s «The Changing Seasons»:
What’s this «Changing Seasons» blogging challenge?
«The Changing Seasons 2016» is a blogging challenge with two versions: the original (V1) which is purely photographic and the new version (V2) where you can allow yourself to be more artistic and post a painting, a recipe, a digital manipulation, or simply just one photo that you think represents the month. Anyone with a blog can join this challenge and it’ll run throughout 2016. It doesn’t matter if you couldn’t join the first month(s), late-comers are welcomed. These are the rules, but they’re not written in stone – you can always improvise, mix & match to suit your own liking:
These are the rules for Version 1 (The Changing Seasons V1):
- Tag your posts with #MonthlyPhotoChallenge and #TheChangingSeasons
- Each month, post 5-20 photos in a gallery.
- Don’t use photos from your archive. Only new shots.
These are the rules for Version 2 (The Changing Seasons V2):
- Tag your posts with #MonthlyPhotoChallenge and #TheChangingSeasons
- Each month, post one photo (recipe, painting, drawing, whatever) that represents your interpretation of the month.
- Don’t use archive stuff. Only new material!

I’ve designed some shirts. Check them out here:

English (EURO):
Bertrand Russell wrote that one of the problems with modern man was that he could not deal with boredom. But then Bertrand Russell was a famous philosopher and rich.
I’m the kind of person that would deal with boredom in an epic way if I had plenty of money…
Those night shots are awesome!
Thanks Desley. I don’t like them. Handheld, too blurry, too much noise, but as usual I didn’t have my tripod with me.
You strike me as the kind of person who doesn’t get bored in what I think of the unmotivated, uninspired kind of way … but I suspect it’s more of a restlessness, likely because the time, money, and/or opportunity aren’t there.
I think that restlessness comes out in your selection of photos. There is a ‘seeking-but-not-finding’ quality to your photos this month.
Stunning photos.
Thank you very much Colline.
Your post has inspired me again and I will be taking some pictures this week to participate 🙂

Great post. Sorry it has been boring. I get that. When I first got divorced, I had a time where the quite was horrible (when kids were with their dad). I would sit and drink and cry. I need activity and purpose. I had to force myself to go out and do things, find things and create excitement. It kind of sucked at times, but eventually found people and things to fill that void. Now, I embrace the quiet when I get it. It gives me a chance to blog, edit photos, write and just reflect.
Divorce is some horrible shit… Even worse than winter, even though the winter keeps on coming back again and again. 😀
I hear ya. It’s a tough experience that is for sure. And even if you don’t miss them specifically (since you divorced for reasons most likely), you still miss the good memories or just the idea of having your own person to love and love you back….especially in a cold winter night.
Exactly: “you still miss the good memories or just the idea of having your own person to love and love you back….”
You know what you’re talking about. You can now apply for a new job as my relationshit therapist.
(no, that was not a typo, my relationships seems to end up in relationshit after a while). 😀 hehe
Yeah, I feel you pain. I had some interesting experiences myself. I look back and think…what in the hell was I thinking. But, since we can’t change the past, all we can do is try to learn from our experiences and move on. If not, we just get bitter and I’ve seen those bitter people. Ugh. I have to make up for lost time! I don’t have time for all that bitterness and anger. Bring on the fun and joy and adventure. The past can stay where it is-the the past. Cuz like you said, it was relationshit! And no one needs that in their present or future.
To be honest it was her that thought it was relationshit. If it was up to me we’d grow old together, but you can’t force people to stay (apparently, that’s illegal). 🛂🛃
Yeah, I suppose forced couple status would be hard to accept by the masses. Growing old with someone you love is a wonderful idea. Perhaps this closed door will just be the opening of a new one in the future? I guess only time will tell. Meanwhile, us bloggers will vent together and get by:)
Well said, NATO!
…..and well done , CG, splendid gallery!
The leaves have not even started to change, so it look exactly the same as it did last month. I’m going to wait a few days and see if something interesting happens. Otherwise, I have a few interesting pictures, but they look exactly like August’s pictures. Withe a couple of minor exceptions. You’ve apparently got at least a hint of color and normally, we’d see a bit here by now too. But not this year. This has been one very strange weather year!

You just had so many summer adventures that this month may seem to pale in comparison! Still, you got some nice shots of the city. Here is my September entry- seeing all these golden sunflowers might even make an adventure seeker smile!
https://thebeespeak.wordpress.com/2016/09/19/september-sunflowers-the-changing-seasons/
Yes, the summer was very nice. Daily life is so utterly boring: eat, shit, work, sleep, repeat…
Thanks for sharing your sunflower photos!
Gotta find some way to break up the daily grind! Although, I’m all for the eat and sleep part!
love the photos and I have been meaning to join the challenge – and will keep trying –
anyhow, I really enjoyed the comments about boredom here Cardinal – from the quote in the first comment to the misc. comments – really enjoyed it.
hm
Feel free to join in! Thanks for the comment.
🙂
Great shots as always, Max. I love the graffiti and the night shots don’t look blurry to me at all. But then I wear glasses. I understand your boredom- I get that way when the skies here are usually clear blue. I hate shooting when they are. But that just gets me to improvise or experiment with my shooting.
Clear blue skies are lame… I guess what’s annoys me the most about the night photos, is that I know that I can do much better than that. I know the technique, I know exactly what to do, but I didn’t have/didn’t take the time needed. Just some quick snaps while passing by.
Well your quick snaps look great. Much better than mine.

Okay. It’s up!

I was hoping to see a bit more of autumn but it hasn’t obliged me. But we’ve been down by the shore for a few days and at least I got a few interesting boats and birds 🙂 Hope you re feeling a wee bit better.
Sometimes boredom is a good thing.
It makes you appreciate the fun times.

Hello, CG. Sorry that September left you with that ho-hum sort of feeling. Often happens at this time of year, and your photos are, as ever, v. striking. Here’s my September pic: http://wp.me/pKVAM-20D

Nice gallery nevertheless.
You had a lovely summer so coming back to reality with a bump sucks. However, I don’t think your photos do at all. Hope by now you have cheered up a bit, after all it is only downhill until spring arrives (you may detect that I am NOT a winter person – too wet, too grey, days too short), but there is always something to look forward to. I live in hope!
My September has been away from home, not too far, but very different.

Hi Max – you sound like you’ve had a month like me.
It is hard to follow an awesome holiday though…
I like your shots too – noise, blur etc… I don’t get to see what you see very often and it’s a real change to my world (unless I get to the city) – so most enjoyable for me 🙂
Love those reflections and well all of them.
Have a great October 😀
Thank you Robyn. I have higlights to look forward to in both October and November, so the autumn won’t be too bad. 😀 I really loved your gallery this month.
Having highlights is a bonus. Enjoy!
Thanks again Max 😃😃 I enjoyed your gallery too!
September can often be a boring month, especially after all of the excitement of the summer. You may not like your night shots, but I think they look great. I especially like the one with the bikes on the bridge.
Thanks. Yes, it’s a bummer to realize that the fun & carefree summer is over… 😀

A great selection once again, Max. I particularly like the graffiti on the bike park. But didn’t you use that before? It looks familiar- as do a few other shots. Mine will be up shortly.
Just ignore that comment above. I thought I was looking at October’s! Duh…
No worries. I read your comment on my phone and thought you were commenting on October’s post. 🙂
OK. I’m posting now.
