I nydelige India er det alltid tid for en festival. Nå sist var det Ganesh sin tur til å bli feiret. Velkommen til Ganesha Chaturthi – Ganesh’ festival.

Hinduer feirer fødselsdagen til kolossen med snabel, Herre Ganesh, også kjent som Gajanana (Elefant-ansikt Herren), Devendrashika (Beskytter av Alle Guder), Kaveesha (Mester av Diktere), Lambodara (Kjempestor mage Herre), Vignavinashanaya (Ødelegger av Alle Hindringer og Forhindringer), Akhurath (Han som har Mus som sin vognmann eller noen av de andre 101 navnene han er kjent som.
Ganesh er kanskje den mest spesielt utseende guddom av det Hinduistiske panteonet, og hans fødsel var like ukonvensjonell som hans profil.

Hindus celebrate the birthday of the colossal God with proboscis – Lord Ganesh, also known as Gajanana (Elephant-faced Lord), Devendrashika (Protector of All Gods), Kaveesha (Master of Poets), Lambodara (Huge belly Lord), Vignavinashanaya (destruction of all barriers and prevention), Akhurath (He who has Mouse as his chariot man, or any of the 101 names he is known.

Ganesh is perhaps the deity with the most special appearance of the Hindu pantheon, and his birth was as unconventional as his profile…
