My friend and I were slightly drunk in a hotel room. It happened to be Valentine’s day, so there was all these creepy and disgusting Valentine’s Day posts on instagram. It made me feel nauseous and that’s when I came up with this parody.

Parody shit for Valentine's day

Parody shit for Valentine’s day

Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine,[1] is an annual holiday celebrated on February 14. It originated as a Western Christian liturgical feast day honoring one or more early saints named Valentinus, and is recognized as a significant cultural and commercial celebration in many regions around the world, although it is not a public holiday in any country.

The Grandfather & The Child

I got this old scanned photo from the 1970’s. The photo had a lot of scratches, light and time has taken it’s toll on the colors, plus the scan wasn’t very good in the first place – it had these little spots, gatherings of pixels here and there, that seemed to have met up for random parties at random places throughout the photo. I didn’t feel like deleting the photo, because the scene is timeless and I think that it has some interesting photographic qualities.

Besides, Rosh HaShana – the Jewish New Year – is coming up (year 5775 will begin at sunset on 24 September 2014) so, I figured that this would be a nice gift to one of my contacts in Israel. While this is being written the photo is in the process of being printed on canvas, size 30x40cm (this post was scheduled and written two weeks before being published).

Here’s a small preview of the original photo:

Rosh Hashanah (Hebrew: ראש השנה), (literally “head of the year”), is the Jewish New Year. It is the first of the High Holidays or Yamim Noraim (“Days of Awe”), celebrated ten days before Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashanah is observed on the first two days of Tishrei, the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar. It is described in the Torah as יום תרועה (Yom Teru’ah, a day of sounding [the Shofar]). The Northern Lights Cathedral & Sami Clothing

The Northern Lights Cathedral

The Northern Lights Cathedral

We were attending a baptism and had to go for a trip to Alta, a city in the Northern part of Norway, approximately 500 km north of the Arctic Circle.

“Alta is considered the northernmost city in the world, with a population surpassing 10,000.” (Wikipedia). In Alta they’ve built a new cathedral: The Northern Lights Cathedral – Alta Church. The new cathedral is one of 3 churches in Alta and it’s replacing the old white wooden church (Alta Kirke) that was built in 1858. The old Alta Kirke is, as far as I’ve heard, the only house in Alta that wasn’t burnt to the ground in 1945 when the Nazis fled Alta. As a natural result of this, all the houses you see in Alta today, has been built after the second world war ended in 1945.
The Northern Lights Cathedral is designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects in cooperation with Link Arkitektur.

There’s nothing to mourn about…

There’s nothing to mourn about death any more than there is to mourn about the growing of a flower. What is terrible is not death but the lives people live or don’t live up until their death. They don’t honor their own lives, they piss on their lives. They shit them away. Dumb fuckers. They concentrate too much on fucking, movies, money, family, fucking. Their minds are full of cotton. They swallow God without thinking, they swallow country without thinking. Soon they forget how to think, they let others think for them. Their brains are stuffed with cotton. They look ugly, they talk ugly, they walk ugly. Play them the great music of the centuries and they can’t hear it. Most people’s deaths are a sham. There’s nothing left to die.

The Interior Decorator God

My headline can be a bit misleading, as he is technically not a God – only a deity, but here you have him: the most popular depiction of religious superheroes among the interior decorators of the world! It’s none other than Buddha himself!

Buddha: Technically not a God, but as close as one can get to being one according to some people.

The Weather & Vikings of Iceland

For those of you who follow the blog, you’ve already know (from my last blog post) that we just visited “the last unknown frontier in Europe to have been discovered & settled by man, this was the land known to the Greeks as Ultima Thule, a place beyond the borders of the known world, where it was said land, air & water all converged.”
