Portraits of Mara Eastern

After the kid went to bed last night I had nothing to do, so I made these portraits of Mara Eastern – loosely based on her Instagram uploads.

Just a quick photoshop job to make time pass while I was waiting to be tired enough to go to sleep. If you don’t know Mara, this is her according to her own words:
“I’m a sardonic blogger, snapper, scribbler and rhymer; a virtual space invader who indulges in cheerful negativism, morbid self-deprecation and bleak humour.” – https://maraeastern.com/

      • I just left Instagram, so I’ll have to keep up with you just through WP. Someone clued me in to the Terms and Conditions which hold a paragraph that says basically they can use anything you post without any issues. Not for me. 😦

        • I didn’t know about that. I’ll read up on it on the excellent website TOS;DR (Terms of Service; Didn’t Read).

Here’s what they have to say about WordPress:
Limited copyright license to WordPress.com including for promotion Discussion

You grant a copyright license to Automattic’s WordPress.com “solely for the purpose of displaying, distributing and promoting your blog.”
× You cannot delete your account Discussion

It is impossible to delete your account from this service, according to the AccountKiller blacklist.
          – Terms may be changed any time at their discretion, without notice to the user Discussion

They can change the terms of service any time they see fit, even without notification to the user. Your use of the service supposedly constitutes acceptance of the changes in the terms.

          And here’s Instagram:
Very broad copyright license on your content Discussion

The copyright licence of Instagram has significantly changed in 2013. The license you grant them is now beyond the requirements for operating the service. For instance, it includes the right for Instagram to transfer the license or to license it to others on their terms (“sublicense”).
          – You waive your right to a class action Discussion

By agreeing to Instagram’s terms, you agree that you can only bring any claim against them on your own behalf. You waive your right to being part of a class action, or participating in claims brought in any representative capacity.
+ Terms may be changed at their discretion, but they will notify you before. Discussion

They can change the terms at their discretion, but they will notify the user in reasonable advance by email or by posting them online. However, your use of the service constitutes acceptance of the changes in the terms without explicit consent.

  1. Reblogged this on Mara Eastern and commented:
I blog anonymously but I make a shitty job out of it. I never post full frontal selfies (not as in nudes but as in whole face selfies), but I do post various disjointed body parts. I was thinking, Man, this is stupid, what if someone glued the parts together to make a whole? And then I thought, Don’t be paranoid, no sane person would bother. I forgot about Max though. Hilariousness ensues.
