In 2012 I made my first unofficial widgets for WordPress’ Weekly Photo Challenge. This year I wasn’t planning to make any at all, until Paula mentioned that she missed them. Like all the previous years the widgets are public domain, which means you can use them for free on your blog if you want to.
Since Paula was the one that put out an APB on my widgets, I figured she wouldn’t mind if I stole one of her photos to use in one of them. The camera in the widget is from a royalty free photo that I found online. The WordPress logo is from, yes you guessed it: WordPress. The backgrounds are from my photos (except the one I stole from Paula of course – wpc-2016-widget-08.jpg).
If you take a look at my sidebar, you’ll see that I’ve linked a widget to a tag, so that when you click it, it links to all my entries for WordPress’ Weekly Photo Challenges. You can do the same in your blog: link the widget to your weekly photo challenges.
So, here they are. Feel free to use them on your blog if you wish:
Edit: Here’s an explanation from WordPress on how to incorporate image widgets to your blog: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/image-widget/
I went with the bird, as I am not a fan of absinthe. Thank you, Cardinal for the honour and efforts.
Perhaps I’ll put some wine in there? Just for you.
Pour on … but the birdy is already on my site.. You know my attachment to things that fly and poop 😀
Haha! 😀 Seagulls poop while they fly, they don’t even bother to sit down like your famous pigeon did!
They are extremely lovely. Cats and drinks, what more could I ask for?
And for me: drinks and women! The perfect match!

Thanks for doing these again this year, I really like using them. I went with image 10, the bird:https://marantophotography.wordpress.com
Cheers!
My pleasure, I’m glad to see that they’re getting used. 😀
I love the Widgets
Thanks man.
They look really good
Thanks Ape.
I’m afraid I will be putting this on the list of great-ideas-I-will-never-get-around-to-doing-anything-with.
You can add one of the photos in your sidebar and link the image to your weekly photo challenge posts.
Very clever. I too, am going with the bird, but searching for something weightless, for now. Happy New Year!
Godt nyttår (happy new year).
wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing Max!
My pleasure!
Thanks. Have to figure out how to link the widget and then I’ll get one, too.

Thanks Janet. I’ve been making these unofficial photo widgets since 2012, so this is my fifth round.
Here’s an explanation from WordPress on how to incorporate them to your site (I’ll update the article with this info too):

Thanks again! I’ve used image 8 and it works as I intended it to and links to all my weekly challenges. Appreciate your generosity and creativity in doing this again.
I’m glad to hear that you appreciated and made use of this. Thanks.
(It works too , just checked your blog now).

I finally remembered to download these. Vacations really mess up my concept of time. Which isn’t all that great anyway 🙂 Thanks. These are great.
Vacations are great: the more, the longer, the better!
