Like Charles Bukowski put it: ‘The Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over the Hills‘ and it’s time for the fourth post in this blogging event that I’ve named «The Changing Seasons». This photo project will run throughout the year and everyone with a blog and a camera is welcome to join (you can still join even if you’ve missed out on the first posts).
The rules are simple and the idea behind it is to get you to shoot often and continuously, to build up your portfolio, get some photographic experience and have fun. This way you’ll capture the changing seasons throughout the year. I started this challenge in January with photos that I shot in December, so in this gallery I present the photos that I took in March.
These photos were all shot in Oslo on different days during March and with different cameras (my DSLR and my pocket camera). The photos that look like spring has arrived, were shot about a week before the ones with snow.

Rules:
- Find a location near your home. Each month take somewhere between 5-20 photos and post them in a gallery in your blog (I’ll post mine on the 7th, but you can choose your own publishing date).
- Tag your posts with #MonthlyPhotoChallenge and #TheChangingSeasons (this makes it very easy for others to follow the challenge using the WordPress reader if your blog is running in the WordPress platform).
- Don’t use photos from your archive. Only new shots.

I’m (still) in the process of moving to another apartment (I’ll be moving in the end of this month), so I might be slow when it comes to replying to comments and visiting posts.

amazing how the water looks like glass- also amazing that it snowed that much again!
The thin layer of ice creates wonderful reflections. Winter always tries with a comeback, but usually fails miserably.
Wonderful shots Cardinal, what a beautiful place. It’s still snowing! I can’t imagine…..
Luckily it all melted again during a couple of days.
superb photos. I really like the last one the best.
Thanks Gav. it was a chaotic day. The buses and taxis didn’t go because of all the snow.
Great series of photos Cardinal ~ nothing like seasons and you capture this spirit so well.
Thank you very much Dalo. I love your nature photos.
Great gallery. You managed to capture changing seasons within the month! I really like the snow photos, especially yhe last. I like the way you photographed snow in it’s less pristine form.
Thanks Tildy. Your entry this month really showed changes from last month. I loved the colors.
Thanks! I wonder what the next month will showcase!
Oh, I also shared my post at https://thebeespeak.wordpress.com/country-market-the-changing-seasons-04 . Spring flowers at last!
Great pictures! I specially love the one of the Opera House with the thin layer of ice and pigeons on it 🙂
Thank you Montserrat. Those are swans and seagulls. The pigeons stay on land, because they don’t know how to swim.
Oh! I see
Amazing photos of your town, Cardinal. That panorama. Wow. I reckon that one was done with a DSLR…maybe handheld.
Thank you very much Ms. Kwong (Ms, not Mrs. this time). There’s two panorama shots there. They were both shot handheld, but one of them was shot in portrait position (which is better in my opinion).
Both are very good. But I thought the horizontal, non-portrait one was excellent since it came out very straight and linear. And shot handheld. I’ve tried doing that but I can’t seem to get the pano straight.
Ms. Mabel is very apt. Miss Mabel is one of my nicknames.
Big changes here since last month! However, it has been raining almost nonstop for two weeks, so I’m holding off shooting until I get at least a bright overcast day. Right now, everything looks grim. We have a couple of flowers blooming. That’s something. Crocus and the promise of what looks like columbine, or maybe a lily. Hard to tell as it isn’t even a full bud, yet. The forecast calls for more rain, but eventually, the sun will come out. It always does.
I see your snow is gone, too. Isn’t is amazing how one day, you are buried … then a week later, it’s gone. The biggest change of the year between the snow of March and the flowers of April.
That’s true: there’s huge changes from March to April. My friend always used to say: “focus on the crocus” each spring.
The water shots are stunning, but I actually prefer the grungy trains…
I’ll soon be living next to the tracks, so you can expect more of that.
Ha! Good. I live near the tracks now and I love listening to the trains screeching in the night…
Great collection of images.
Thanks Rabirius.

Fantastic collection. I particularly like the first shot. Winter’s had a few comebacks here too. Today was the first really Spring-like day.
That one’s shot at the end of a very scenic park. I’ll see if I can take some more shots in that area when it’s closer to summer. The spring is coming here too, but it’s still twig season.
Love to see them. I really like the tones in that shot. You can almost smell the earth.
Great to see all the “reflection” shots, the pop of green and colors for the billiard shot, and I like the black and white skateboarders photo.
Here is my entry for this fun challenge for April: http://lolako.com/on-to-montereys-fishermans-wharf-for-this-months-changing-season-wordpress-photo-challenge/
And by the way, I had a strange thing happen on my site last month affecting WordPress sites with a sitemeter widget. It has been fixed (there is a blog post about it here http://lolako.com/some-visitors-unknowingly-redirected-to-ads/ ) — and I apologize if it affected visitors to my website.
Thanks Lola and thanks for your entry. I shot a whole bunch of skateboard photos that day and I’m planning to make a separate post later.

March is such a temperamental month; we never know what we’re going to see weather-wise. I loved seeing bright blue skies in Oslo for a change. The water was so remarkably serene. Lovely. I managed the post for March before it got too far into April!
https://silverinthebarn.wordpress.com/2015/04/08/changing-seasons/
It’s good to see that you’re taking care of the garden. It’ll be interesting to see the results! Thanks for the entry.
I so look forward to your shots. Always wonderful, interesting and breathtaking! I am always inspired by them. Thanks for that. Here is my contribution this month: https://michellelunatophotography.wordpress.com/2015/04/07/seasons-monthly-photo-challenge-april-2/
Hi Michelle. Your short link didn’t work, so I updated it with the full version. Thanks for the contribution!
Thank you. It seems scheduling posts is not working for me. I had to copy and recreate the post. I’m sure that is why. Sorry.
I like your beautiful, icy reflections, as for coats – winter is grim enough maybe they should use more colour in their clothing 😉 I will be back shortly with fresh photos from this month 🙂
During winters everyone around here looks like they’re attending a funeral.
😀 people are silly

Here it is https://bopaula.wordpress.com/2015/04/08/monthly-photo-challenge-the-changing-seasons-04/. Colours are showing at last 🙂
Yes! Warmer days are coming!
I’m starting to feel quite familiar with Oslo 🙂 Not sorry to see the back of that snow though! You have a couple of cracking panoramas here for Paula’s Thursday this week 🙂
Thanks for the reminder to check out Paula’s scheduled posts page.
I’m guessing that by the end of the year, you’ll know Oslo pretty well!
This is brilliant … all of them!
I’ve skipped two months for two reasons: I got fed up because it all looked the same, or possibly MORE snow. So much snow I couldn’t get where I wanted, or I didn’t go at all. I think the inspiration is coming back now.
Inspiration is nice. We’re a big fan of inspiration!
I really liked the panoramic view at the beginning. It appears that there is the harbour and also a canal or river?
Beautiful shots of the city. I have a particular love for old, tree-lined streets like Karl Johans Gate 🙂
The thing that looks like a canal is a fake-lake, a man made lake, that’s supposed to represent where the sea used to be (actually it used to be even higher up than where the fake lake is).
Here you can see some photos & videos of the fake-lake during winter: https://cardinalguzman.wordpress.com/2012/12/03/ice-skating-night-skating/
I love that video of you ice skating … to have that huge skating surface all to yourself!! It would make even someone like me want to learn how to skate 😉
It was fantastic to skate there, plus I was the first one to try the ice that season and it’s fun to have all that untouched ice!

To catch a place in four season and see all the beauty each creates. Very, seriously, neat idea. Weird, I like your Spring photos here more than Winters.
… or at least more than the snow pictures.
I like spring better than winter too. Both on and off photos!
Another excellent selection, and I can’t believe another month has passed by! My contribution will follow soon.
Cool. I’ll be waiting for your entry.
Coming soon…
Beautiful shots – the blue sky and water are striking.
Thank you very much Zambian Lady. Feel free to join if you’d like.
beautiful photos you have, Cardinal, again. Billiards is my favorite. Oh, my…. still snow… cccc… I am quite indisposed this month (both mentally and physically not well) – you didn’t see me in “ready, steady,GO” position on 07/04 :-), but I didn’t want to miss a month. so here is my humble, halfhearted contribution:
http://lessywannagohome.blogspot.be/2015/04/cg-monthly-challenge-changing-seasons-04.html
I think that it’s a lovely and colorful contribution Klara. I love the low point of view in your first shot, plus there’s something wonderfully surrealistic about “Le Stoemeling” & “La table des Artistes”.

Wonderful photos and reflections of buildings in water are very nice .
I’ll try to put my photos for this month shortly.
Thanks Viaja. I’m glad that I got to capture the reflections in the ice before it was too late.
But in March-April , there was still ice in Oslo? How cold !!!

Wonderful captures, Cardinal. I particularly like the shot of Carl Johan’s Gate – the shadows and light appeals. 🙂
That’s exactly what I found appealing too. Thanks Fairy.
The street/area itself is not so appealing. It’s very ‘touristy’ and it’s difficult to get a decent meal to a good price in that area. .
