Monthly Photo Challenge: The Changing Seasons 04

Like Charles Bukowski put it: ‘The Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over the Hills‘ and it’s time for the fourth post in this blogging event that I’ve named «The Changing Seasons».  This photo project will run throughout the year and everyone with a blog and a camera is welcome to join (you can still join even if you’ve missed out on the first posts).

The rules are simple and the idea behind it is to get you to shoot often and continuously, to build up your portfolio, get some photographic experience and have fun. This way you’ll capture the changing seasons throughout the year. I started this challenge in January with photos that I shot in December, so in this gallery I present the photos that I took in March.

These photos were all shot in Oslo on different days during March and with different cameras (my DSLR and my pocket camera). The photos that look like spring has arrived, were shot about a week before the ones with snow.

Rules:

  • Find a location near your home. Each month take somewhere between 5-20 photos and post them in a gallery in your blog (I’ll post mine on the 7th, but you can choose your own publishing date).
  • Tag your posts with #MonthlyPhotoChallenge and #TheChangingSeasons (this makes it very easy for others to follow the challenge using the WordPress reader if your blog is running in the WordPress platform).
  • Don’t use photos from your archive. Only new shots.

Check out the participants blogs:

I’m (still) in the process of moving to another apartment (I’ll be moving in the end of this month), so I might be slow when it comes to replying to comments and visiting posts.

  1. Great gallery. You managed to capture changing seasons within the month! I really like the snow photos, especially yhe last. I like the way you photographed snow in it’s less pristine form.

  2. Great pictures! I specially love the one of the Opera House with the thin layer of ice and pigeons on it 🙂

    • Thank you very much Ms. Kwong (Ms, not Mrs. this time). There’s two panorama shots there. They were both shot handheld, but one of them was shot in portrait position (which is better in my opinion).

      • Both are very good. But I thought the horizontal, non-portrait one was excellent since it came out very straight and linear. And shot handheld. I’ve tried doing that but I can’t seem to get the pano straight.

Ms. Mabel is very apt. Miss Mabel is one of my nicknames.

  3. Big changes here since last month! However, it has been raining almost nonstop for two weeks, so I’m holding off shooting until I get at least a bright overcast day. Right now, everything looks grim. We have a couple of flowers blooming. That’s something. Crocus and the promise of what looks like columbine, or maybe a lily. Hard to tell as it isn’t even a full bud, yet. The forecast calls for more rain, but eventually, the sun will come out. It always does.

I see your snow is gone, too. Isn’t is amazing how one day, you are buried … then a week later, it’s gone. The biggest change of the year between the snow of March and the flowers of April.

  5. Great to see all the “reflection” shots, the pop of green and colors for the billiard shot, and I like the black and white skateboarders photo.

Here is my entry for this fun challenge for April: http://lolako.com/on-to-montereys-fishermans-wharf-for-this-months-changing-season-wordpress-photo-challenge/

And by the way, I had a strange thing happen on my site last month affecting WordPress sites with a sitemeter widget. It has been fixed (there is a blog post about it here http://lolako.com/some-visitors-unknowingly-redirected-to-ads/ ) — and I apologize if it affected visitors to my website.

  7. I like your beautiful, icy reflections, as for coats – winter is grim enough maybe they should use more colour in their clothing 😉 I will be back shortly with fresh photos from this month 🙂

  9. I’m starting to feel quite familiar with Oslo 🙂 Not sorry to see the back of that snow though! You have a couple of cracking panoramas here for Paula’s Thursday this week 🙂

  10. This is brilliant … all of them!
I’ve skipped two months for two reasons: I got fed up because it all looked the same, or possibly MORE snow. So much snow I couldn’t get where I wanted, or I didn’t go at all. I think the inspiration is coming back now.

  11. I really liked the panoramic view at the beginning. It appears that there is the harbour and also a canal or river?
Beautiful shots of the city. I have a particular love for old, tree-lined streets like Karl Johans Gate 🙂

  16. To catch a place in four season and see all the beauty each creates. Very, seriously, neat idea. Weird, I like your Spring photos here more than Winters.

    • I think that it’s a lovely and colorful contribution Klara. I love the low point of view in your first shot, plus there’s something wonderfully surrealistic about “Le Stoemeling” & “La table des Artistes”.

Once again, really nice photos! Love the reflections and the panorama view.
PS: Good luck with the moving! Yet…you have surely moved by now, so – Happy new home! 🙂
