I’ve had a busy weekend and haven’t really had the time to visit blogs, comment etc. Earlier today I shot this photo of Karl Johans Gate in downtown Oslo. I hope you’ve all had a great weekend!
Brilliant photo, Cardinal. You made the Gate building glowing. The yellow light from the street lamp – looks like a yellow cherry on top. 🙂 I don’t know, I’m guessing you didn’t shoot this one on a point-and-shoot.
The car is slowing down for the light that’s about to turn red (on the photo it’s yellow/orange), but it’s also a fast shutter because I didn’t use a tripod.
I wondered about your shutter speed. The photo has the look of a slow shutter, but the car made me question that. Nice job! It’s a stunning photo. I love the illumination, the glow, the detail… it’s all beautiful!
Thank you very much Amy. The shutter was 1/20 sec: just enough to keep everything focused, but still capture some movement without risking camera shake.
Love your night shots and the star…beautiful!
Thanks Lucile! This is technically a day shot, but the darkness is coming early around here these days.
Most welcome! Indeed. Had almost forgotten that. Made sunrise shots at 8:30 am…
(Looks like an empy building at first sight!)
Beautiful lights and love the detailed street pavement!
Thanks 76!
Lovely warm colours with a magical essence and perfectly placed lamp!
it’s only in photos that this city can appear magical 🙂
ah but that is the sign of an artist to capture that 😀
Great shot, C! You too.
Thanks Richard. The weekend was wonderful.
Hi Cardinal. Seems the weekends are only getting busier as the holiday season approaches. This is a magical shot, the light is amazing. Cheers.
That’s true, the weekends are definitely getting busier as the holiday approaches!
It’s beginning to look a lot like…. 😄
Holy sh*t, this is a stunner!!
Hehe, thanks! There’s more to come from the same shoot.
Love it, wonderful… 🙂
Takk skal du ha Drage.

You’re right Mabel. This was shot handheld with my DSLR.
A very nice dusk shot. I love the star burst on the lamp.
Thank you Allen. I could have gotten a stronger star effect if I set it to somewhere between f/16 or 22, but I shot handheld so I had to compromise.
Oh yes, I understand perfectly. Still a nice image.
Ah time, that thing you can’t hold but passes very quickly (at times).. I have been quite busy too!
Great photo! Is that car standing still or did you use quite a short shutter speed since I don’t see any movement on it.
Have a great Monday!

beautiful- I love the light reflecting off the street, the glow of the car lights too.
It was the light reflecting in the streets that caught my attention too.
Lovely blur hour shot! And love those starburst a on the lights 🙂
Okay, obviously blue hour 😉 Sometimes I really dislike the spell checker on my phone!
Hehe, as we all know: the blur hour is much later (normally around the time when the pubs closes).
Awesome shot. Looks so nice there!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting Mr Moses.
Magnificent night shot. Great capture of the lights.
Thanks Amy. Technically it’s a day shot, it was around 15:30, but it’s the dark season here now.
love the reflective lights!
Thanks. Me too!
It’s a wonderful picture! Love it! Did you shoot that handheld?? [reading comments..]
Yes I did. I had the tripod with me, but didn’t bother to set it up.
Wow! What was the ISO?
ISO 1600, which explains the grain.
Magical image, CG. 🙂
Thanks Paradise.
you are the best in low-light…
Thank you very much Alexandra! I love shooting low-light photos.
Very pretty!
Thanks Patti. I shot some more in this area on that day. I guess I’ll post them later this week.
Gorgeous lights in this one. I love the red reflections on the pavement!
Thanks Paula. It’s the light reflections in the street that made me take the camera out of the bag.
🙂 no tripod?
No tripod. Too much stress to unpack everything, so it’s shot handheld at ISO1600.
I have a soft spot for your night shots. This one so warm almost like a fantastic advertisement for that car!
Thanks. It was a (realtively speaking) warm day too. BTW, it’s not a night shot – it’s just dark around here.
It looks perfect! I would hang it on my wall in a second! You should send it to the car manufacturer!
