WPC: Minimalist – Cirka Loka HalLokween

The theme for the Weekly Photo Challenge this week is «Minimalist».

Last weekend I was the photographer at an event: «Cirka Loka HalLokween Party 2014». These two shots are from that event and the only ones that could fit under the category minimalist. It was a fun and interesting experience to be the photographer at such an event. The light conditions were difficult to work with because they were constantly changing and the autofocus sometimes struggled with the darkness and the smoke. So, it was challenging conditions, but at the same time it was tons of fun and very educative.

IMG_2822During the weekend I’ll post some of the portraits that I took that night, so stay tuned for more!

I’ve also made some tickets for Cirka Loka’s events earlier. If you want to check them out, you’ll find them under this tag: https://cardinalguzman.wordpress.com/tag/cirka-loka/

  1. Yeah, and I enjoy looking at these much more than at portrait shots! Wonderful display of lights . a perfect capture. Were you happy with the flash?

    • I was happy with my newly bought flash, but it was extremely strong. I knew that it was strong, so I also bought a reflector, without the reflector all the faces would have been burnt out white from the flash.
It also took, I’m guessing around 5 seconds, to charge between the shots. Five seconds is not a lot of time, but it can seem like a long time for people that really wants to hit the dance floor instead of waiting for the flash to recharge.
All in all I’d say that for that price, the flash was a good buy, but now I also need to buy one more piece for the reflector, so that I can use it as a softbox. Hopefully that’ll tone it down a bit.
