    • In French they call it something like “roue de ferris”. I wonder why the Scandinavians came up with the term Pariserhjul?

“The original Ferris Wheel was designed and constructed by George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. as a landmark for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago.” (wikipedia).

It would be more natural if the Scandinavians called it Chicago Wheel. After all Paris has nothing to do with it.

  1. I love the Pariserhjul, and I love learning bits and pieces of other languages. All the lights are great…you should have put your name in lights too 🙂

  2. Thank you for sharing this wonderful fun photo. I love the Ferris Wheel. I like being able to see the world from the top and then coming back home again. 😉

  3. I love your photography. Carnivals, fairs, ferris wheels and carousals are a special weakness of mine 🙂
It’s interesting however similar they all tend to be, every fair has it’s own special atmosphere but somehow there’s always a little bit of evening sadness in them… Great photo.

    • Yes, there’s this sadness to them, I totally agree. Great observation!
Not to mention the slightly psychedelic music/sounds/noise, mixed with laughter, tears and the smell of popcorn.
