I guess the title pretty much describes it all?
Initially I thought that playing with the bulb settings might be a verb: bulbing. I wasn’t sure, so I googled it and found out that “bulbing” is:
Bulbing – The practice of smoking Crystal Meth or Crack Cocaine out of a lightbulb. (source: urbandictionary.com
Well. That’s definitely NOT what I was doing as I was taking this photo, but perhaps the explanation from Wikipedia can help clarify the subject:
“Bulb, abbreviated B, is a shutter speed setting on an adjustable camera that allows for long exposure times under the direct control of the photographer. With this setting, the shutter simply stays open as long as the shutter release button remains depressed.”
Hope you’ve enjoyed these night shots!

Very nice – like the light trails shot very much – they look like some kind of neon street installation.
Thanks Richard. I shot another one with light trails, but the trails went all the way through the turn, so I decided to post this one which I liked better.
Some nice shots. Night time shooting using the “B” setting is fun.
Thanks Rick. I enjoy using that technique.
Oh my … I loved looking at these pictures! Very, very nice!
LOL @ the ‘bulbing’ 😀
Glad I googled the term before posting!
Thanks for the help by email Reb. I owe you one 🙂
Cool images!!!! Did you use a tripod?
Hey Hottie. No I didn’t bring my tripod so I had to use objects.
Wow….even though the result was veeeery good! 😉
Thanks Hottie. I’ll bring my tripod next time 🙂
Nice shots! Liking the trail much, it would been even cooler if the trail was longer, but maybe you can re-shoot again 😉
I did shoot one with a longer trail, but I chose to post this one because I liked how the trail stopped.
Wow, very impressed with your steady hand!
Thanks Patti, but I used objects that were in the area. My hand isn’t that steady.
Nice photos to enjoy AND I learned something new. Always a good combination. 🙂
Great combination. I learned something too 🙂
Lovely shots !
