New Year, Same Face, New Gravatar
I’ve had the same Gravatar for a while now, so I figured out it was time to make a new one.

Self portrait with tie, by Cardinal Guzman.
Here’s some of my old ones. As you can see they all play with the same theme:

Three versions of the same one:

I wasn’t satisfied with this burning head, so I never used it as a gravatar:

Trivia: The English word “skull” is probably derived from Old Norse “skalli” meaning bald, while the Latin word cranium comes from the Greek root κρανίον (kranion). (Wikipedia)

Nice new duds for the New Year!
January 1, 2013 at 22:10
Thanks! Felt like I had to renew my wardrobe to feel more alive
January 1, 2013 at 22:18
Like it! Nice tie.
January 1, 2013 at 22:12
It goes well with the six pence: ska-style.
January 1, 2013 at 22:19
Interesting..I’d love to see what you really look like
January 1, 2013 at 22:24
Perhaps I’ll post a real self-portrait once…
January 1, 2013 at 22:35
Ahhh Richard took the words right out of my mouth… ‘hahaha’
- so yes, yes, yes – you can leave your hat on…
Well done…
January 1, 2013 at 22:50
Thanks Drake. I need the hat now that it’s cold!
January 2, 2013 at 06:41
Oh, yes, here I can do it, but wasn’t able to do it on google +
January 1, 2013 at 23:12
I saw some comments from you there.
January 2, 2013 at 06:42
Someone did not like your photos, but it wasn’t me
I saw people commenting on the tie, but I think it is a bit short. Do you know that my people invented tie?
January 1, 2013 at 23:13
Yes, my tie is a bit short. I had no idea that your people invented the tie, but it’s a cool little trivia to know.
January 2, 2013 at 06:46
I like this gravatar, you look rather dapper…and happy! I like this one much better than the previous one.
January 2, 2013 at 00:50
Thanks Angeline. I like this one better too. It seems more light-hearted somehow.
January 2, 2013 at 06:47
Nice looking gravatar! Strong work sir.
January 2, 2013 at 01:31
Thanks Brett!
January 2, 2013 at 07:54
it is nicer …
I revamped, not only my avatar, but my whole blog..
Gott nytt År!
January 2, 2013 at 03:11
Yes I saw that. It’s very nice with the new layout and the black cat is awesome. Perhaps I’ll do the same? I have a blog that’s been waiting to be used for a while. I’ve been considering using that one for photos and this one for articles.
January 2, 2013 at 07:57
The black cat is good, because if I change theme — which I like to do every now and then — to a dark one, I can easily invert it …to a white cat LOL
I tried that once … to have one blog for photos, but in my case it didn’t work well, because I sort of write alot about the photo and it gets all inter-twined.. The photos help me find something to write about

I like the idea of a makeover for the new year, CG.
January 2, 2013 at 03:52
Sometimes it feel nice to get a makeover – even if it’s just a digital one.
January 2, 2013 at 07:58
Excellent! Love the cap. Nice touch.
January 2, 2013 at 04:01
Thanks Rick. Glad you like my new looks
January 2, 2013 at 07:59
Good morning from Stockholm!
Nice work!Seems like a much happier skull… Love the cap
January 2, 2013 at 08:28

Late Happy New Year Dear !!!!!!!!!!!!
January 2, 2013 at 08:54
Happy New Year to you too Fredy!
January 2, 2013 at 19:52
That looks very 1978 David Bowie!
January 2, 2013 at 20:12
Thanks! Actually I’ve heard many times that I look like him.
January 2, 2013 at 22:45
Very cool!!
January 3, 2013 at 02:54
Thanks!
January 3, 2013 at 06:50
Hi Cardinal!!!! Happy New Year!!!!
Love your new gravatar, with the hat and the tie!! Look a bit British!?
Now, somehow, it is a little difficult to call you “Cardinal Guzman”…
Happy New Year!
January 3, 2013 at 16:33
Thanks Ilargia and happy new year to you too!
Yes, it does look a bit British. I must admit that I like the new, British look.

January 3, 2013 at 21:37
Agree with ilargia64 there. Very British.
But my favourite so far. Off to a god start already, eh?
My year-end and kicking-off-the-new-year posts took a back-seat as I lay in bed coughing my brains out. Now it feels ridiculous posting them. Everyone’s already moved on. Sigh.
January 3, 2013 at 20:25
It sucks to be sick, especially if you don’t play xbox or computer games. Boys/men that play xbox/playstation/computer games can always handle a week or two in bed .
It’s not to late with new year posts! Work has just started again and tomorrow it’s the weekend already!
January 3, 2013 at 21:12
It’s definitely a Brit’ – part schoolboy and part old man! It’s fun. But my favorite is the burning skull. Somehow he looks full of mischief!
January 3, 2013 at 22:17
I like the burning scull. Worked on it for a while, made different versions. Went out to photograph the letters in the background. In the end I was pleased with the result.
January 6, 2013 at 10:01
Honestly, I liked the old one better…
January 4, 2013 at 14:42
Honesty is fine
This one is more perky than the previous ones, but I like the old one(s) too. I needed a change and will keep this one until I grow tired of it.
January 6, 2013 at 10:38
Also, stumbled across your new photo blog. I’ll be interested to see where you go with that.
January 6, 2013 at 20:43
The plan is to focus on photos there. I’ll post written stuff such as recipes, travels, the history of tattoo etc in this blog, and stick to photos in the new one.
January 6, 2013 at 20:59
Sounds like a good plan. I’ll be interested to see how keeping two blogs works for you. Best of luck with it.
January 8, 2013 at 13:47
So, what’s up with the skulls?
January 6, 2013 at 07:46
I guess I just love sculls. I’ve always been fascinated by sculls, bones and anatomy. Perhaps I should have been a radiologist?
January 6, 2013 at 10:35
The second skull does it for me.
January 7, 2013 at 20:31
How about this one? http://artishorseshit.wordpress.com/2013/01/07/the-cardinal/
January 7, 2013 at 21:23
Because skulls are awesome, between things I got from my mom and my boyfriend I got 4 skull related presents for Christmas – I was like hey, I am seeing a theme here you guys!!! But I did get some books too, so that was nice
January 14, 2013 at 21:33
You said it: “Skulls are awesome”. I’ll quote you on that.
January 15, 2013 at 17:32
That’s a quote I will stand behind!
