In French they call it something like “roue de ferris”. I wonder why the Scandinavians came up with the term Pariserhjul?
“The original Ferris Wheel was designed and constructed by George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. as a landmark for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago.” (wikipedia).
It would be more natural if the Scandinavians called it Chicago Wheel. After all Paris has nothing to do with it.

I love the Pariserhjul, and I love learning bits and pieces of other languages. All the lights are great…you should have put your name in lights too

I enjoy photographing the ferris wheel, but I would love to go in the one that’s in London – The London Eye or whatever it’s called.
