Violent Demonstration (Weekly Photo Challenge – Windows)

Here’s a photo I shot for a Norwegian newspaper during a violent demonstration in Oslo, Norway. Notice that one of the police officers are holding his shield upwards to protect him and the other officers against the rock that is flying through the air and is about to hit.

As you can see nearly all the windows of the police cars are broken. The demonstration turned out to be very violent and 3 officers were injured. The demonstrators set fire to a caravan while they threw rocks and bottles at the frightened police officers. The police had to use teargas to disperse the demonstrators (which was a crowd of 30-40 people).

This is an excellent pic. I can get a sense of the turmoil just from looking at the pic. http://aurelientt.wordpress.com/2011/11/04/weekly-photo-challenge-windows/

    • Thanks Nuvofelt.
Luckily this situation doesn’t reflect daily-life in Oslo – this little “village on steroids”.
